Chris and I had a wonderful time last Saturday and would like to thank you for your
hospitality, kindness and warm welcome. We found all the people in the club so warm
and friendly and spent some time really getting to know many of them.
We did investigate the other clubs in the area but we found the atmosphere, interior décor,
layout of the rooms and play spaces much more comfortable and to our liking.
The first workshop we attended was Scott Smith’s flogging demo and we found it to be
fantastic, funny and very educational. We especially appreciated the special treat of being
able to have one-on-one time with the speaker.
In the past we discovered the best way to meet people when you are new to an organization
is to volunteer and we are looking forward to helping with projects in the future.
We look forward to becoming regular members.

I went to my first Newcomers' Social alone. I was a bit apprehensive too. Same questions..
what to wear, where to park, what do I do, what do I say...??? The closer I got to the place,
the more nervous I became. I almost chickened out, but I knew I'd never forgive myself if I did.
I dressed in comfy pants and a shirt, found the place just fine, found a parking spot right around
the corner, walked to the door, pressed the doorbell, and climbed the 47 stairs to Galleria
Domain 2. As I entered the door from the sidewalk, Colt opened the door at the top of the stairs
and looked down at me, welcoming me with a smile and friendly words. Funny... he didn't look
scary. :) He was great.
Inside, members showed me around. BOOM! Instantly, I was at home and comfortable! Everyone was
super nice and helpful. All the members who come to the Newcomers' Social are there because they
want to greet the visitors and make them feel welcome. I enjoyed the social, signed up for a
trial membership, and went home anticipating my new adventure! That was in March. Maybe April.
I am still a member, and have developed some great friendships with people there.
When I first went, I was afraid that I would feel like an "outsider", but it wasn't like that
AT ALL! Everyone was very interested in learning about me, and answering questions, etc.. They
are FABULOUS, warm, caring, fun people! And they are all very helpful and welcoming at the
Socials. Most of us were nervous / shy when we first went there too. So we understand, and are
sensitive to your apprehensions. Also, if you don't have a lot of (or any) experience in this
lifestyle, they're great about making you comfortable, and helping you figure out where you
want to go from here.
So go enjoy yourself! Have a fantastic time! And if you have a moment at the Social when you
don't know what to do, or who to talk to, you can just say to Carol, or Colt, or whoever
shows you around "I'm feeling a little shy" or "I don't know what to do
now. Can I stick with you for a while?", and they'll take care of you. I have said things
like that to people there. We had a special event there a couple of months ago, and everyone
was asking me why I wasn't participating. I finally went up to the lady who was kind of in
charge of the event (whom I didn't even know all that well), and said "OK. I'm concerned
about something. Here's what it is, and I don't know what to do about it". She and Carol
fixed me right up in no time, calmed my concerns, I participated, and a great time was had
by all! There's no pressure, no creepy psychos, no danger, no ickyness. :)
What I'm trying to say is:
Go! Relax! Feel comfortable! Have fun!
